Growing up...

Nekene was born the second child in a loving family. Both she and her older brother, Dakarai were born with special powers. These powers set them apart from the rest of the world. Her brother was born with the ability to control the body of others. He could control the person He could control them whether they were dead or alive. She was immune to his powers, and he was immune to hers. She was born with the ability to freeze time and everyone within it. She could then move outside her frozen world. She could affect things within the frozen world if she chose to. However, despite their powers their parents loved them very much. And encouraged their children to learn to control the powers. They never viewed the children as monsters or freaks. They loved their children more than anything in the world. Despite this they couldn't change the opinion the townspeople. They feared Nekene and her brother and they knew it was only a matter of time, before they destroyed them all. They would never say such things to their parents.

However to Nekene and her brother it was a different story. They would call them names and try to get them to lash out, and prove how evil they really were. It seemed to her that her brother was picked on more than she did. It seemed something about him made people not trust him. He was a withdrawn boy, the type of boy that did not make friends easily. He tended to keep to himself and this nature only made the people more afraid of him. They were sure he was plotting something. Nekene was the type of girl that loved life, and she shrugged off what they said. She did not need them to know that she was a good person. She tended to be kind to even those that were cruel to her. She tried to involve herself in the lives of those around her.

A new world order...

At times, some people wondered if she was not as bad as her brother was. Dakarai was 16 Years old the day he was recruited to join a group known as Crescent Lotus. The leader's wife a woman named Jaquelle recruited him. He found that their ideas were very much like his own beliefs. However, he knew he would have to leave this life behind. It did not matter in the end run. He was glad to leave this place and these people. After making his plan, all he had to do was wait. . After all joining this group meant he would be among people just like him. People that had went through the same things. Her own parents for her gins had tortured Jaquelle herself. It seemed as if it would be the best for achieving his goals.

Nekene was 14 years old at the time; her brother was approached to join the ranks of Crescent Lotus. They did not approach her. But she had seen the young woman around the Village and something about her had made Nekene uneasy. Not being able to place it at the time, she rather hated having negative thoughts about another person. She did not know that they had recruited her brother. She did not know that they were a group that was going to purify the world and give it to people like her. They had powers just as Nekene and her brother did. In addition, that there were others out there like her brother and herself. She did not know any of these things. It seemed to her that her life would continue, just as it was forever. Not knowing how very wrong she was.

An ending and a beginning...

Her brother decided to comment himself fulling to the realization of the ideas of his new friends. He decided to cut all ties to his old life. He used his powers to kill everyone in the town they lived in. Everyone that is but her. She wasn't suppose to be there but something had told her to return. She saw the horrors he had wrought and when faced with him. She was unable to do anything. He left her there. Having no idea why she alone was allowed to live she went into the foster care system. But, never did she forget that someday she would confront her brother and ask him why. When she got old enough she set out on her own into the world and different worlds in search of him.
